Research 101

Selecting a Research Topic

Now that you have taken some time to review your research assignment and have a firm understanding of the assignment requirements, it's time to select a topic to investigate. Choose a topic that interests you. Research is far more satisfying when you care about the topic you are investigating. Sometimes you are assigned a topic. If this is the case, choose an approach to or aspect of the topic that you find most appealing. Also, it's important to remember that your topic may (and likely should) evolve as you begin gathering background information about your topic.
