Activity: Searching in Databases

In this activity you will search in Academic Search Complete and/or Research Library for sources about your topic, using your keywords. Be sure to learn about Using General Databases prior to attempting this activity.

HINT: This activity will produce information that you will use in the quiz.

On a separate piece of paper, or in an electronic document:

  1. For each database you used:
    1. Document the database(s) you used,
    2. the search string you started with,
    3. and, the initial number of results.
    4. What tactics did you use to refine or alter your results after the initial search?
  2. Collect a permalink and a citation for at least one promising source.
  3. Best Practice is to perform the same search in both Academic Search Complete and Research Library, so repeat questions 1 & 2 in the second database.

Next step - Complete the Quiz

You have reached the end of this library module. Hopefully you have completed the three (3) activities. Proceed to the next CANVAS page and take the quiz. You will use your answers from the activities to complete the quiz.
