Study Space

There are many different types of spaces in the library, including quiet, individual study areas, computer labs, and group work spaces.

Computer Lab

Sixteen computers are available in the open lab, and twenty five computers are available in room Library 112.

Individual Study

Individual study carrels are located along the back wall of the library, right behind the shelves of books. Additional individual carrels are in the back left corner.

Group Work

Large tables for groups of four are located through the library. There is also a reservable room that can accommodate large groups and meetings.

Technology in the Library

We have a range of technology to help you complete your coursework and succeed.

Printing

We now offer free printing of 20 pages per day in the library. 

Software

Library computers have the following programs:

  • Office 365 (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access)
  • Kurzweil 3000

Copy and Scan

A copier/scanner is available for public use. The copier is black and white only. Students may also scan to a USB drive. Scanning and copying (within the limit of 20 pages a day) is free for students.

WiFi Access

Campus-wide wireless internet is available for the educational and business needs of current students, employees, and guests of Centralia College. All users must comply with the college's Computer Use Policy, Student Rights & Responsibilities Code, and Copyright Rules.

The wireless network is not a public internet access network.

Computer Lab

The library has 41 computers available for currently enrolled Centralia College students to use for academic purposes when they are not reserved for library instruction, including 16 in the open lab and 25 in Library 112. When the computer labs are reserved for library instruction, signs will be posted to notify students of the hours when the lab is reserved. Students may use the computers until the posted times.

The library also has one stand up computer available for public use and quick tasks. Users are limited to 10 minutes on this computer.

Laptops

The library has laptops available for students to borrow for the quarter. Photo ID is required to checkout a laptop. Please contact the circulation desk to inquire about laptop availability.

Hotspots

The library has hotspots available for students to borrow for the quarter. Photo ID is required to checkout a hotspot. Please contact the circulation desk to inquire about hotspot availability.

The hotspots need to be within the provider's coverage area to work. Check coverage on the Verizon Service Area Interactive Map.

Headphones

To maintain a quiet study space for students, headphones are required to listen to audio on all computers. Headphones are available for check out at the Check Out Desk. You will need a photo ID (student ID card or driver’s license) to check one out. Please be considerate of other students who are studying. Keep the volume low. You will be asked to lower the volume if it is loud enough to disturb others.

ADA Computers and Programs

All of the computers in the library computer labs are equipped with the software Kurzweil 3000. We also have a height adjustable workstation with a magnification device available for student use.
